A big THANK YOU to all the teams and partners who participated in Havsöringsträff Åland 2023! We are now carrying out the rest of this year’s event and will get back later this autumn with information about 2024.

2023: After a break of several years the arrangement of Havsöringsträff Åland was resumed in 2021 and thus it will now be the 3rd time that the new edition of Havsöringsträff Åland will be organized on 21-22.4.2023.
The FishyLive app that was put into use last year will remain and some new changes will also be made, i.a. allowing fishing from shore.The event will continue to grow into a larger, well-established event that already now welcomes participants both from home and away!

50€ (500SEK)/ skipper + 30€ (300SEK)/ other participants, thereto the participants themselves bear the costs of fishing licenses
Juniors pay 40€/ skipper + 20€/ other participants as well as any costs for fishing licenses

The measure board can be picked up from Byggvarhuset/Trädgård & Marin from Wednesday 19.4 to Friday 21.4, daily between 8.00-18.00
Friday 21.4 from 3 to 8 pm

The competition starts at 4 pm on Friday!
NOTE! The team/participant pick up their measure board from the location chosen at registration!
Saturday 22.4 at 4 pm
The competition is ongoing and results can be reported until 4 p.m. The measure board must be returned dry and cleaned no later than 4.45 pm to the competition office in Käringsund.
Teams that return the board later will loose 5cm per 5 minute delay *).
If returning the board later than 5.15 pm the teams is out of the competition.

Classes and info about the participants 2023
2023 the participants can choose between the following classes:
1) Senior
2) Junior U17 (all participants in the team must be born in 2006 or later)
A team consists of 1-3 participants. All participants must be entered upon registration and all must be in the same boat/ near each other during the competition.
The organizer must have contact information to the team’s skipper ( = the information provided at registration) who will be contacted if the organizer needs to reach the team
Competition fish and reporting 2023
Approved fish are sea trout (min. 50cm) and salmon (min. 60cm), catch and release is applied.

If rainbow trout are caught they should not be released back, but killed.
Results are reported continuously to the organizer via the FishyLive App by sending photos ( image with measure + posing image) and length (in whole cm, the length is rounded down to the nearest whole cm).

The fish are measured and photographed clearly on the measure board that the team got from the organizer.
The fish has its head to the left, mouth completel towards the stop, belly downwards, tail towards increasing cm and is measured from the mouth to the outer end of the tail (caudal) fins.
The length of the fish and the number of the team must be clearly visible in the picture!

Images that are in some way unclear can be rejected and won´t be included in the team’s competition results!
The team may report an unlimited number of fish, of which the five longest are added to the total result.
The team with the best total length (in cm) wins Havsöringsträff Åland 2023!
If two teams have the same total length, the team with the longest fish wins.
Handing over of fish between teams or non-competitors is prohibited.

Competition categories and prizes 2023
- Best TOTAL LENGTH
In this class the 3 best teams are awarded!
The teams may report an unlimited number of fish, of which the five longest are added to the total result! Minimilength 50cm/ 60cm
One winner is also awarded in the following classes:
- LONGEST FISH – the competition’s longest fish is awarded!
- MEDIUM LENGTH closest to last year’s average length
Last year’s average length (among fish over 50cm) was 56cm (56,10cm).
The fish that this year is closest to 56,10cm will be awarded. If there are several fish on the same result, the winner is decided by drawing lots.
Prize ceremony at Käringsund Resort & Conference at Saturday 22.4 approx at 5.30 pm
If the winner isn´t present at the prize ceremony, their prize may be passed on to the next on the results list.

Other competition rules
Fishing methods:
Fishing is done from a boat or from shore by angling, fly or spin fishing.
1 rod / person is allowed, spare rods (unlimited number) may be in the boat. All participants must be in the same boat/ near each other during the competition!
NOTE! Trolling not allowed!
Competion area:
No designated competition area. The teams chooses where they start and come ashore and they are responsible for ensuring that they have both a permit and a valid fishing license for areas where they fish.
The participants are responsible for having valid fishing licenses and/or
permission from landowners if they fish from shore
Skippers meeting and starts:
No skippers meeting and/ or arranged start for all teams together.
If the organizer needs to get hold of the teams it´s done either through the FishyLive App or via SMS to the team captain, to the phone number given at the registration.
The team chooses when and where they fish during the time for the competition (Friday 21.4, 4 pm – Saturday 22.4, 4pm)
Shortened / interrupted competition:
The organizer has the right to shorten / cancel the competition *) if necessary, which is done by sending a message to the team captain.
All catches that have been reported to the organizer before the message is sent out are included in the competition.
*) The competition jury decides whether the competition must be canceled. The competition jury also decides on i.a possible disqualification (eg as a result of breaches of competition rules or attempted cheating when reporting fish) and deals with possible protests.
Participating teams have the right to submit a written and signed protest which must be received by the organizer no later than 5.15 pm
Protest fee 30 €, which is refundable if the protest is justified. The jury’s decision can´t be appealed.
Liability, permission and terms of conditions:
By signing up for the race and paying the participation fee the participants agree to the contest rules (= this page) and give their consent to the organizer to publish data about the team (names , teamname and nationality) on participant,- start- and result lists.
Each competitor participates in the competition at their own risk, the organizer is not responsible for any accidents that occur during the competition.
The organizer has the right to photograph and film the participants during the event to use the material in future marketing of the event.
Security rules for Åland for e.g. maritime saftey must be obeyed. Life jackets or flotation suit is mandatory.
The teams are obligated to inform the organizers via SMS (+358405223823) if the measure board won´t be returned latest 4.30 pm on Saturday. If failure to inform the organizers of any delay will result in a rescue action, the boat in question will be liable to pay for this rescue action.

2022
Team Ursuit won Havsöringsträff Åland 2022 with the total length of 286cm. Johan Hilander in Team Triple xXx caught the biggest trout of the competition at 64cm, while Marcus Mellgård in Team CrockoCatch brought his trout of 57cm closest to last year’s average length.

2021
The competition’s largest sea trout (4.36kg – 70cm) was caught by Gunnar in Team xxx and gave them the victory with a total of 7 points!
Team Well co came in second place with 6 points and Team Hildur had 4 points which gave them a third place!

Accommodation during Havsöringsträff Åland 2023!
Do you come from outside Åland? Or do you, as an “ålänning” want to make the weekend a little bit “luxury” and book accommodation at the competition area?
Käringsund Resort & Conference i.e. the location for the competition office, award ceremony and After fish offers the accommodation package Havsöringspaketet which means accommodation in a bungalow (with or without sauna) for €160/cabin for one night and €260/cabin for two nights.
When you book your accommodation you can also add breakfast on Saturday 22.4 and also book your Schnitzel + beer for Saturday’s After Fish!
